Behind every successful organisation is a dedicated team member who keeps the wheels turning smoothly. At Pink Ribbon Community Supports Australia, that person is Hayley, our Office Manager, whose impact reaches far beyond administrative duties.

More Than Just an Office Manager

As Office Manager, Hayley ensures our office runs efficiently while managing the critical function of payroll. But her role doesn’t stop at administrative tasks… she also helps participants connect with community services and occasionally steps in to provide direct support when needed.

“I assist our participants to find services and other organisations to help get them out and about in the community,” Hayley explains. “And occasionally I’ll fill in to provide supports when we’re understaffed or if a participant needs a one-off service.”

Finding Her Purpose in Community Support

Hayley’s path to Pink Ribbon began with a heartfelt realisation. While working in another field, she discovered her true fulfilment came from helping others navigate life’s challenges.

“I felt compelled to make a career shift to support those with disabilities,” she shares. “Pink Ribbon’s commitment to empowering individuals directly aligned with my values.”

The Power of Lived Experience

What makes Hayley particularly effective in her role is her personal connection to disability. Her sibling is autistic and wasn’t diagnosed until young adulthood.

“Growing up, I witnessed the challenges they faced, which gave me firsthand insight into the importance of empathy, patience, and understanding,” Hayley reflects. “This helps me at PRCSA as I can relate to our participants’ experiences and challenges, and it helps me approach everyone with sensitivity and awareness.”

What Makes Pink Ribbon Special

When asked what makes working at PRCSA unique, Hayley doesn’t hesitate: “Working for PRCSA is unique because of its strong community focus. The organisation fosters a culture of inclusivity and respect, enabling our staff to build genuine relationships with participants.”

She particularly values the collaborative environment where everyone’s contributions matter, creating innovative solutions that truly meet participants’ needs.

Advice for Participants and Potential Team Members

For those considering PRCSA services, Hayley emphasises the importance of self-advocacy: “Approach the process with an open mind. Don’t hesitate to share your goals and needs clearly.”

And for anyone thinking about joining the team? “Be ready to embrace a person-centred approach in all your interactions. Passion and empathy for the disability community are essential traits for anyone in this field.”

The Lighter Side of Office Life

Office work isn’t without its funny moments. Hayley recalls one particularly memorable bathroom mishap: “One time my boss was trying to fix one of the toilets in the office that was running non-stop. They opened the top of the tank and the water pressure was so strong that water came shooting out, saturating them and the entire bathroom walls and ceiling!”

The silver lining? “Fixed the running toilet though,” she adds with a smile.

Hayley’s blend of administrative expertise, compassion, and good humour makes her an invaluable member of our Pink Ribbon family. We’re grateful for her dedication to our participants and her contributions to making our workplace somewhere special.

Thank you for being part of our community.
