We are pleased to introduce one of our partners, Lightmare Studios, to you.

Pink Ribbon Community Supports Australia’s Director, Andrew, recently connected with this wonderful organisation at an event and was most impressed by their unique and innovative offerings in the disability space.

Lightmare Studios is a veteran video game studio that supports those living with a disability, often secretly suffering from loneliness & social anxiety, through social video games.

Over the last 17 years of operation, Lightmare Studios has had over 1000 participants with a disability in their programs. Their “Social Games Community” offering gives participants both the opportunity and guidance to form genuine friendships by playing video games, digital art, game design and even virtual Dungeons & Dragons.

The community develops social skills whilst engaging participants in something they love and building an environment that both organically and systematically fosters social skill development and a true sense of belonging. It is rapidly expanding, and in just 12 months, it has gone from 23 participants to 91, aged from 6 to 56 years old.

The program was developed and backed by comprehensive studies of 100 different social dynamics, authors and leaders and operates with a welcoming and genuinely relatable group of over 40 social gaming leaders.

The “Social Games Community” is run entirely online, is accessible 7 times per week, for 2.5 – 3hrs per session, and is open to ages from 6 years plus.

The program supports Australians who:

  • Are on the spectrum, looking for new and engaging activities and are willing to be taught how to play meaningfully
  • Experience anxiety and/or depression or are vulnerable and need extra care to connect with the community
  • Could benefit from meeting like-minded people through a safer online environment.
  • Have a gaming addiction and could benefit from mitigation strategies and self-regulation towards social gaming, rather than often harmful restriction.

Participants and loved ones are always overjoyed by the significant improvements this community brings for them in social skills, confidence and psychological well-being.

Lightmare’s “Social Games Community” is the first specialised community program run by a veteran game studio in Australia. Pink Ribbon Community Supports Australia is proud to partner with this organisation and promote the great work they are doing in the gaming space for those living with disability.

Thank you for being part of our community.
