Helpful NDIS Resources Every Participant Should Know About

Navigating the NDIS can sometimes feel overwhelming, but there are some excellent resources available that can make your journey smoother.

In this post, we want to highlight some particularly useful publications from the NDIS that we’ve found valuable for our participants. We hope you find them to be helpful in your NDIS journey.

Easy-to-access Resources

The NDIS has developed a range of booklets and fact sheets to help participants better understand different aspects of their NDIS plans and supports. You can find all these resources on the NDIS website. See the link, below.

These documents are also available in an easy-to-read format.

We have found the Understanding consent and Community connections publications most helpful when helping participants to make informed choices about their care and when helping participants build meaningful relationships in their local community.

NDIS Community Connections Booklets & Publications iPadThe Understanding consent resource is particularly valuable to gain an understanding of what consent means in different situations, how to give or withdraw consent, and understanding your rights. We often refer to it during conversations about new support arrangements or when discussing privacy matters.

The Community connections publication dives into practical strategies for building relationships and finding local activities that match your interests.

It’s been really helpful for participants who want to expand their social circles and discover new hobbies on the Sunshine Coast.

How to Get These Resources

You can read the documents on just about any mobile phone or tablet, a computer or laptop, or at your local library.

If you prefer copies to read at home, you can order printed copies by:

And if English isn’t your first language, these resources are also available in other languages, including Auslan. Just visit the Languages section of the NDIS website.
