What the 2025 Carer Wellbeing Survey Tells Us During National Carers Week

It’s National Carers Week… a time to recognise the people quietly holding things together behind the scenes. 💙

Last week, on Instagram, we talked about how caring can be emotionally and physically exhausting, especially without the right supports in place. (See our Instagram post >> here <<).

The new Carer Wellbeing Survey 2025 confirms it… and the findings are hard to ignore. (Download your free copy of the Carer Wellbeing Survey 2025 PDF >> here <<).

The Big Picture

Carers who had good access to support reported much higher wellbeing.

Those who didn’t? They struggled.

Here’s what stood out from the 10,000-plus carers who took part:

  • Only 38.9% of carers had healthy levels of wellbeing… compared to 66.4% of other adults.
  • Over 40% said they feel often or always lonely.
  • 72% said caring has reduced their income.

The message is simple: support matters. It directly impacts a carer’s health, stress levels, and ability to keep going.

Why It Matters

Caring for someone can mean juggling medication, appointments, personal care, meals, transport … and that’s before you even think about your own life.

Without proper backup, the risk of burnout and isolation goes up fast.

How You Can Actually Help a Carer During National Carers Week?

💬 Check in properly. Not just a quick “How are you?” but an honest chat.

📅 Offer something specific. “I’ll drive them to their appointment on Tuesday” is a lot more useful than “Let me know if you need help.”

💭 Say it out loud. Acknowledge the work. It’s real, valuable, and deserves recognition.

🤝 Don’t wait to be asked. Most carers won’t ask… they’re used to managing.

Remind them self-care isn’t selfish. It’s necessary.

Support That Gives Carers Room To Breathe

Carers right across the Sunshine Coast and Gympie, NDIS Carers included, keep local families going every single day.

Sometimes, having professional NDIS support step in makes all the difference… giving carers the space to rest and recharge.

If that’s something you need right now, call us on 1300 062 437 or email us on our contact page.

We can help lighten the load so you can keep caring… without burning out.

Together, we can make a difference. 💗
